Il y a cinq ou six ans, lorsque je dessinais ou peignais à l’aquarelle une forêt sous un soleil du matin , je m’efforçais de représenter la beauté du paysage. Mentalement, je prolongeais le ressenti du premier regard de la scéne. Je reconnaissais la séduction que la Nature opérait sur moi.
Le temps passant, j’ai développé une autre perspective. La forêt m’apparaît comme une abstraction, une énumération infinie de genres et d’arrangements. En dessinant, je me concentre sur certains individus avec lesquels je privilégie l’interaction. Sur ce sujet, j’aime beaucoup ces vers de Charles Baudelaire:
La Nature (…)
L’homme y passe à travers une forêt de symboles
Qui l’observent avec des regards familiers. (Correspondances, Fleurs du mal, 1857)

Five or six years ago, when I was sketching or water-coloring a forest, I was trying hard to represent the beauty of a landscape. Mentally, I was endeavoring to keep the initial feeling of seduction that I got when I first look at the scene as an idealized beauty.
Progressively I developed another perspective. I now look at a forest as an abstraction: an enumeration consisting in infinite nature types and arrangements. When drawing, I focus on specific individuals of the forest and I interact with them. On this subject, I like very much these verses of the poem Correspondences by Charles Baudelaire:
Nature (…)
Man crosses it through forests of symbols
Which watch him with intimate eyes. (translation by G. Wagner)
